Tired of hunting through menus to open programs?

Both Windows and Mac have fast, built-in ways to launch your favorite apps. Once you know these shortcuts, you’ll never waste time digging around again.


 

💻 Opening Programs on Windows 

1. The Start Menu 

  • Click the Start button (bottom-left) or press the Windows key.
  • Start typing the program’s name (like Word or Chrome).
  • Click the app in the results list.

 

2. Pin to Taskbar 

  • Right-click the program once it’s open.
  • Choose Pin to Taskbar for one-click access later.

 

3. Run Dialog (Advanced Shortcut)  

  • Press Windows key + R.
  • Type the program name (like notepad) and hit Enter.

 


 

🍎 Opening Programs on a Mac

 

1. Spotlight Search 

  • Press Command (⌘) + Spacebar.
  • Start typing the app name.
  • Press Return to launch it immediately.

 

2. Launchpad 

  • Click the Launchpad icon (rocket ship).
  • Browse or type in the search bar.
  • Drag apps onto the Dock if you want them handy.

 

3. The Dock 

  • Most common apps are already in your Dock.
  • Drag any new app into the Dock for one-click access.
