Nobody calls and says their disk queue length is high. They say the computer is slow.
Slow is a symptom. It can mean five different things. Here are the five I check, in order.
Drive health. First, always. A dying drive freezes while Windows waits on reads that time out. The drive keeps its own report, called SMART. It shows bad sectors before it quits. If that is the answer, cleanup is a waste of time. Back up now and replace the drive.
Free space. Windows needs working room. Ten to fifteen percent free is my line. A stuffed drive is often why a machine "slowed down for no reason."
Memory. Too little RAM and Windows starts shuffling data to the disk. Everything crawls. Sometimes the answer is that the machine needs more memory. No software trick replaces it.
Startup load. How many programs launch when you power on. Updaters for software you deleted. Things you installed once in 2021. Trimming it is the biggest safe speed win there is, and it is free.
What is pegged. Task Manager, while it is bogging down. Processor, memory, disk, network. Which one is spiking. This is where slow gets a name.
None of it is secret. They are numbers your computer knows and will not say out loud. Read the five, in order, before you touch anything.
The Speed It Up tab in PCRescue Kit runs the same checks in one click. It will tell you when the answer is hardware instead of pretending a cleanup saves a dying drive.
What a real checkup covers. And before you buy a PC cleaner, read this.
The Kit is $49, one time, at pcrescue.me/kit, free with a paid Membership. Or book a session and I will run these with you.

"My Computer Is Slow" Is a Symptom, Not a Diagnosis
