Printers. I get lots of calls about printers. This week I wrote about printers.

Tuesday. Your printer says it is offline. It is sitting right there. Offline usually means your router handed the printer a new address and your computer is still knocking on the old one. Easy to fix.

Wednesday. Why your printer works from the laptop but not the tablet. Your laptop remembers where the printer is. Your tablet has to go looking every time. Four things block the search. A guest network or a VPN, almost always.

Thursday. That error code on the screen means almost nothing. The code is a filing number, not a diagnosis. Three questions tell you far more, and all three take five minutes. This one also has a warning in it about searching the code, because that search is a trap and can lead to the good-old remote support scam.

Friday. When a printer is not worth fixing. Four signs it is over, why the brand on the front decides whether a clog is fixable, and what to buy if you print twice a month.

If your printer is doing something and you have not called yet, that is what I am here for. Reply to this and tell me what it is doing. A lot of these turn out to be a remote session and fifteen minutes.
