A different week for my posts. Yes, I am plugging a product, but I worked really hard on this for over a year, and I am pretty excited about it.
PCRescue Kit goes out Monday, August 24th, to Members and the early-access list. Everyone else gets it September 1st.
I originally said early August. It is not early August, and I owe you the reason.
The holdup was a code-signing certificate, the thing that stops Windows from warning you about software from an unidentified publisher. Getting one used to be a lot easier, but all those scammers and tricks I talk about means it is now more difficult to prove yourself as a legitimate company with a legitimate product. So that's progress, even if it meant more paperwork for me. Of course I could have shipped it unsigned and let you click past a warning box. The whole pitch is that I do not hide things from you.
So, Monday. The PCRescue Kit is a small app. Run it and you will see a summary of your computer's current state. Press the
The download will be free and stays free. A real set of the fixes work without paying me. No nag screens. No invented emergencies.
The license is $49, once. Adds tons of additional fixes. Updates for life. No subscription. If you have a paid PCRescue Membership it is already yours, free, nothing to do. Early access is $29 and your link arrives Monday. That price closes when the Kit ships. Get on the list at pcrescue.me/kit this weekend.
This week, if you missed it:
Monday, why "my computer is slow" is a symptom and not a diagnosis, and the five readings that turn it into an answer.
Tuesday, the full manual fix for a jammed Windows Update, given away whole.
Wednesday, why the Kit prints every command on screen before it runs. The one I would most want you to read.
Thursday, the release dates and the long version of why it took this long.
Friday, the first five things to run, when you get the kit, in order.
If you run the drive health check and it warns you, do not sit on it. Send me a photo of the screen and I will tell you honestly whether it is urgent.
